Possible trans issue?

Going to keep it short an sweet, I've been at a fire for the past 6 hours an haven't been to bed yet. I get in my truck to leave the station an it just doesn't sound right, like the tone of te exhaust an the engine.
Get on the parkway an she won't shift into 5th gear for the longest time. Running cruise control at 70mph an 3100rpm.
Then I stop to get gas an out the truck in reverse an there's like a continuous grinding noise. I'm pissed to say the least.
The rear diff blew on my old wrangler I had an I know the price of this kind of stuff.
I'll try to get a video of it later today, but if it's a big issue, repairs out of the picture.
Just wanted to post this to let it "soak in" while I ptfo forever.

make sure it didn't lock up. and check your fluids. if its your tranny be prepaired for a costly repair :/

2x on this. My TJ did this. Few weeks ago where it wouldn't shift into 3rd (OD) or reverse. My clutches are worn out and the seals are getting replaced as well. Definitely check the fluid level as well as for any leaks.

I can check the fluid but just last summer I replaced the rear extension housing seal, tranny filter, tranny fluid, an cleaned the pan

Fluid is fine, shows hot after I just drove it, but it's still making the grinding noise. I might just drop the pan an change the fluid out an see if it's full of metal shavings. Because I just cleaned the pan out last summer
