Wait. You bought a 4-cyl automatic Mustang? And you're calling me a heathen?
It would have been a mach e but they weren't yet available

Just in case the sarcasm doesn't translate, you damn well know where I stand and what I drive and how I live, don't make me beat you

when we gonna visit your hot bar tender again

Sadly there are many that believe everything you said and get a boner when they have an opportunity to post about how superior their automatic electric vehicles are.

I am a purveyor of many things, my mustang isn't an i4 auto, its a v8 with a 6 speed, I'm 33 and kinda feel Im the oddball for my age group having had more manuals than automatics.

My x is the only auto 4x4 I've ever had, and ya know, I'll probably love it, the auto 110% slips the clutch better than i can and I consider myself an above average drive with the creds to prove it.

I also love the mach e, it improves the cafe score of the mustang because its labeled as one enough that once again, the Mustang, is the last car standing

Ya know... I'm finding all this funny cuz all I'm picturing is you guys debating on whether it's better to grab your stick and go forward and back, or side to side to get your asses moving.

Welp. Scheduled the truck to have the clutch done. I pulled all the armor this morning and I was laying under it just staring up. I don't have the motivation to do it. I don't want to do it. It sucks to pay for it, but I just don't want to do the work.
"And just like that I was broker but not feeling any frustration from doing it myself." - (almost) Forrest Gump ;)

I know the feeling but sometimes it is way easier to let someone else (who has all the proper equipment) do the job. I give them money.... they give me a job well done.... sounds like a good trade. :)

(Gettin' too old to do some of the stuff I used to do....)

Picked up the truck today. New clutch is so nice. Now I can go back to abusing it instead of babying it.

I really don't like how the factory clutch is so numb feeling. But. He did get the friction point all the way at the bottom where it should be. It's going to take a bit of re-learning to get my shifts smooth. But having the friction point at the proper place on the pedal is something I've missed dearly. All in $2550 parts and labor. But it's done. And it's perfect.

I NEED THAT!!!! I just don't know who I'd trust to do the job yet. The stealership being the least trustworthy, and actually just installed the short throw shifter by LOJ Conversions. Just getting rid of that rubber isolator in there was decision enough. I can feel the gates better now. Weird that it feels better than when I bought the truck almost 7 years ago. Now I'm drooling for the clutch replacement. Probably next spring.

Why would the dealer be least trustworthy? Yeah, more expensive. But every dealer has at least one master tech. Find out who that is and ask for them.

Tell me more about the shifter. I'm interested.

I've had experience with the local Nissan dealership here before with my mother's Altima and my Pathfinder years ago. Had to bring both vehicles back to correct the original work. Pathfinder was tranny under warranty, and Altima was body work that the paint cracked and chipped within months. There are multiple Nissan DS here, and I probably could investigate one of the others, but I just have a sour taste in my mouth in general.

Now, the shifter. I thought about doing this years ago with PRG Greg, but the last time he and I talked, he posed his hatred of making these. So, I never pursued it until recently when I started missing 5th gear. Found out that the rubber isolator can get too soft and not align the gate with your "muscle memory" as you shift. Went digging again, and found LOJ Conversions. Total cost was almost $500 for everything but it feels tight n right. Had to use my shifter's top boot and cover, but all fits beautifully. Topped it off with my 8-ball knob from my '80 Camaro 30 years ago. Sit's maybe 1" lower but doesn't look any different.
Only went with the bushing kit on Amazon, because there is a risk of breaking the old one trying to take it all apart. I followed the guidelines from this post:

That's super interesting. I wonder what changes with the body lift.

If you have a 2" body lift, the shifter knob is 2" lower in the console. The throw doesn't get restricted, but it looks weird. I read somewhere that there's a longer shifter stalk that can correct the look/feel but can't remember where. Might have been while talking to Greg the first time around.
