I ran into an interesting dilemma this afternoon while attempting to replace my off road roof light bulbs.
Here is what I found:
The owners manual states that the Off Road lamps are 9006 (HB4).
I did find numerous posts in a forum with the same information so I bought 9006 (HB4) replacement bulbs.
I took everything apart to swap the bulbs and I find that they are instead 9005 bulbs.
The 9006 looks to be wider in diameter where the rubber seals it from the elements so it wouldn't fit into the hole.
I didn't feel like messing with it so I put the stock bulbs back in for now and re-attached everything to the roof. Then I went to test the lamps to make sure they work, but they won't turn on. I know that they wont turn on if the covers are on (I have them off) so I put the plastic covers back on, turn on the high beams, take the covers back off, activate the Off Road lamp switch and they turn on. It seems that putting the covers back on resets them.
SO....get yourself some 9005's. Install them. Put the plastic covers back on. Turn on your high beams. Take the plastic covers off. Activate your OR lamps. Good-to-go!
