For a single color strip it's just two. You tap them into the dash illumination circuit.

And there is only one dash circuit for everything. The climate and speedo are all on the same loop. So for each one, you'll tap into the same colored wires. The reason I want to do multicolor is so that I can experiment on what color I actually want once the job is said and done. I'm trying to research a way to bleach the red out of the needles and knobs right now. So they can be any color as well.

Unfortunately, the strip I bought has two circuits. The color change circuit and an all white circuit. Because of that the LEDs are spaced further apart and it's hot spotting like crazy. So I ordered some different strips that are configured as one circuit.

Also, when I get done with these I'll have a spare set of the climate controls and cluster that I can send on to the next person with a 1.5 so they can mock the lights up before disassembly. Which will make the transition that much easier.
