Timing chain tensioner problem

Have an '07 Xterra and the timing chaing is making the typical TSB whining noise. Dealer says its the timing chain guider. Is that the same thing? My after market warrenty specifically states that it WILL cover: "timing gear, chain and bolt, timing cover, timing belt. . . . ". Is the timing chain guider or tensioner considered part of the timing GEAR?? or that something completely different? Curious, because afraid warrenty company may not cover this if not specific enough.

Probably the same. Best thing is to ask your warranty provider if that specific thing is covered. If it isn't, I remember someone saying it was a pretty involved, expensive teardown.

Its an aftermarket warranty company. . .so gobble only knows what excuse theyll have NOT to cover the problem. . .Otherwise, will cost $1600 at the dealership. Im sure at a local shop would be about half that. . . but our big problem right now is getting the warranty company to actually RETURN the phone call of the dealership. HA!!!! Dealer left 2 messages and no reply back yet. Probably figuring out how to get out of the covereage.
