When i try and crank my steering wheel as far as it goes, it sounds as a creaking noise is coming from something, anyone have any clue? its a 2003 Nissan Xterra S/C
I've got a similar creek. though mine happens whenever I turn a few degrees left or right of center. then it stops. I think I've traced it to a lower ball joint on the passenger side. the rubber boot is cracked. I sprayed it full of Lithium grease and it went away. next step replacing the ball joint. I'd check the control arm bushings as well as they flex a little as the wheels turn left or right.
When you are at full lock you rub on the bump stops. The plastic caps that keep it quiet break over time and it will make a grinding poping noise with suspension travel.
