All buttoned up! Still have a little more caulking to get it the way I want but it's finally functioning!

What are those?

Linky

I actually got them in the marine section at Walmart. They definitely won't put your eyes out but they do help. I'm not sure how much they'll help when I get the 6" wired up haha

EDIT: Just realized the link was to the amber style of my lights. Mine are, of course, white haha

It's my first step in tackling the projector mod. Baby steps...baby steps.......

Those look like HID capsules in a OEM style headlight reflector.

That means they will glare like crazy, not throw very far, and mostly make too much light right in front of you (So the LOOK bright) and not enough light out in the distance past where your brights can reach now.

IE: I've done that already, and they suck for actual lighting. The projector HID can at least work...but an HID capsule in a halogen's reflector emits the light at the wrong depth...so its focused wrong. The beam can even end up upside down, etc.

I noticed the same thing. If it comes with the OEM reflector in there, I was planning on taking it apart and removing it..

Always. That's how I did mine. Once you get the headlights, disassemble them, let them sit for a few weeks, then order your projector kit from TRS.

It may be a little longer than that.. I just sent the deposit in for an RLC rear and I'll be on vacation in July for 2 weeks sooo..haha

You will still need to be sure the capsule you HAVE will now work properly (They pretty much "FIT", but the projector focus depends on the length of the glowing part of the HID capsule and its depth relative to the projector's focus points, etc.)

IE: You may need to shave or spacer the capsule mount to get the depth right. If the length is wrong, you can't do much about it.

TJ, I imagine he wouldn't use the bulbs that come with those headlights. As they likely won't fit into projectors since most are D2S bulbs.

When I do the retrofit I will be able to just switch out the bulbs and not have to change all the ballast and everything else, correct?
They make a adaptor if the ballasts you will have are the two wire AMP connectors to go to the D2S bulb.

-- Also, if you go to D2S bulbs, you may want better (cleaner) ballasts

Yeah, all the cheap kits use AMP connectors. When you go to D2S bulbs you'll need AMP to D2S adapters. Beware of cheap ballasts, though. The output current might fluctuate which is bad for the bulbs. Regardless, you'll want a relay harness so that the stock headlight wiring simply triggers the ballasts, but they pull directly from the battery.

Caulking didn't hold to good on the relocated sensor so I bought some good black sealant and it's in there now! Good to go!

Thanks for all the pointers on the lights. Even if I have to take the complete HID kit out and get a new one it'll be pretty easy to sell one, especially around here haha

Today I fixed the LEDs on the hatch. One of the connections went bad but it's good to go now!

Also, I got everything prepared for rock lights! All the lights and the wires cut to the correct length.

Here's the little diagram I made.. If you can make sense of it, congratulations!

I may try to tackle this tomorrow if I don't have to much to do and it isn't ridiculously hot here like it has been the past few days..

So the X almost caught fire today... Let me explain haha

Saturday evening I noticed a wire that was hanging down right at the pedals (and almost caused me to wreck). So Sunday I tucked the wire back up and everything was good. I didn't drive it again until today.

I always put my emergency brake on. Always. It's a habit. I got in released the e-brake and went on. A couple minutes down the road I realized the e-brake wasn't fully released. So I pushed it into the dash and a couple of seconds later...smoke!

I was about to enter the turn lane so I quickly dove in there and stopped to see what was happening. As always, I pulled my e-brake back. After investigating, I found the problem...

Sunday when I stuffed the wires out of the way, I unknowingly placed it right in the path of the e-brake. The lever of the e-brake must have cut right into the wire making it hot. That's why it wouldn't fully disengage like it normally would. AND because I always pull the e-brake back when I stop, that's what caused it to stop smoking when I stopped in the road.

Now, I made sure all the wires are out of the way and those in the future will be as well. All I need to do now is just re-fun that wire and it's all good! A LOT better than it could've been! It also really makes me want a fire extinguisher in the X now haha

Who knows ;)

Also, couple of pictures from this weekend.

This was after I went through a mud hole that went up to my buddy's knees. I got stuck the first time through and was able to back up and hit it with more speed and got through it

Does the rack on the Jeep behind me look familiar? It's the one I used to have on mine. I think it looks much better on his.

the e-brake could have cuased voltage to bypass the fuse, orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr you didnt know what Amp fuse to use.

sh#t happens.

A relay to the switch is better. That way, the full power to the light bar is not going through the dash switch....just a trigger current.

:D
