So theres not really a good way to break this to you guys, but, I have decided to sell the Xterra.

Been thinking about it for a couple of months now. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, it has been great as have the other 2 Xterras that I have owned. When my white X got totaled and insurance took over a month to decide what to do, I had a lot of time to think about what route I wanted to go. I considered all kinds of different options other than getting another X, and was extremely close to not buying this one. In the end I guess I was comfortable with Xterras and knew that another one would not disappoint. I had always wanted to lift my white X and put it on 33s with a hefty bumper. After buying this blue one and deciding to sell my bike I was in a position to do so. And it is pretty badass just like I knew it would be. It looks great and performs great, but the novelty of having a nice lifted X wore off really quick for some reason, I just have never got attached to this rig like I did my white one. As I said, this xterra hasn't disappointed, I just want to go a different route right now. Every since I bought this Xterra in September I've wondered if I made the right decision in the back of my mind. I just have never really bonded to this rig like I did my white Xterra before. So its been in the back of my head and selling/trading has really been weighing on me heavy for a few months now.

Obviously I haven't posted on here in a while, partly due to the fact that I knew this post was coming and it was going to be bittersweet, but I have already taken the lift off and returned the Xterra to stock suspension. So my Nisstec Ultimate Kit will be for sale, along with the brand new Pro-4X rim that I bought intending to use as a spare. The hefty bumper will probably stay on, as it would be a pain to remove, and my stock pieces aren't in great shape, plus I'd have to buy new fender liners and a grill to go back to stock bumper.

So with that, I say this...I have never been apart of a better forum, and can not imagine a better community of people, or a better run forum anywhere else on the internet. I'm not going to shutdown my profile or anything like that, and I do intend to pop in here from time to time. I keep up with a lot of you on social media now, which I enjoy, and I will continue to keep up with people from XN. It has been great getting to meet a lot of you in person at the past two nXm/went windrock events. I will never hesitate to recommend an xterra to anyone, nor will I ever say anything bad about xterras, I have had nothing but good experiences with the vehicle and with XN as a whole.

Try not to be too harsh on me...

Wow man... I hate to hear this but I understand your position.

You gonna keep your next purchase off road related or something different?

Casey, not being a true part of the forum anymore will be the thing I miss most about Xterra ownership I think.

EDIT: I wrote a book to answer a simple question, but my long winded post does a good job of explaining why I'm doing this I think. So sorry for all the words.

Anyways, I may get a lot of hate for this. But when I was 16 or 17 and first got into cars and the auto industry in general all I ever cared about was having a new edge mustang gt. When I quit college to work full time and started making decent money I one upped myself and got a mach 1. I loved everything about it except for the fact that it was my only vehicle. I liked that it was fairly new with low miles (at the time) I liked being a real part of car meets, hanging out at the track, all the stuff that comes with car culture. Unfortunately a stupid deer, extremely wet roads, and a poorly placed embankment ended the mustang back in 2010.

At that point all of my buddies were in the offloading scene, and as much as I would have liked to get another car right after the wreck, I knew I wouldn't be happy daily driving it. So I started looking at 4wheel drive SUVs, which naturally led me to a JK. I was young and had to have a cosigner to get a loan at the time, and my step dad, being the old school hard ass that he is would not cosign on a Jeep. Mainly because he isn't a big Mopar fan (I'm not the biggest Mopar fan now) and because he considered them unsafe. So thats how I decided on the first Xterra. I wanted a 4 door JK, but since I couldn't get one, I decided an Xterra was the next best thing. This was the grey X. I kept that for a while and liked it, wheeled it some, but when my credit got good enough and I moved out, I went and got the JK that I wanted.

The JK was just so cool at first, but it was a nightmare with all the little problems and crappy dealership experiences I had. If it would've been a 10 or 15 year old TJ with a few quirks here and there I would've dealt with them and probably would still have a Jeep now, but it was an absolute POS as far as a new vehicle goes. So I went back to an Xterra since it was the other option in the 4wheel drive SUV world and I had a good experience with my first one. This was the white Xterra. I loved everything about ownership of that white Xterra. But as you all know it got totaled. So that gets me to last September when I bought the blue one, and I've pretty much explained myself from there.

Anyways since the day I lost my mustang and bought my first Xterra back in 2010, I knew that I would have another pony car/sports car someday. I'm actually wanting a 5th gen Camaro SS. I drove one thats on a lot less than a mile from home the other week and I really liked it. But I also want to drive 2011-2014 Mustang GT too, since I really like the Coyote engine. Plus what I'm looking at will lower my payment, insurance quotes are not much more than the X, and if I keep my foot out of it on the higway, will get better gas mileage than the Xterra.

As far as the 4 wheel drive, I want something a lot older and a lot cheaper. I have a lead on a solid axle Toyota truck and a nice bone stock Cherokee for really cheap. I just like the idea of having two vehicles. Plus with an old 4wd I can leave the car in the garage when its nasty out, and I can beat on the 4wd a lot harder than I can now, since I have the car to get me to work if need be. I know that I'll never have a really nice car until the Xterra is paid off, and I just can't take that anymore.

Very sorry to hear this.

What route you going?

Sent via my walkie talkie

I'm wanting a 5th gen Camaro SS and some sort of beater 4wd, so I can have the best of both worlds with basically none of the drawbacks

I guess I saw Caseys post first so thats why he got the story book response. I feel like such a part of the community here that I had to explain myself fully I guess...

I completely understand those feels. And I find it admirable to come in here and put it out there. No one will fault you for that.

If I was in the market for a 2nd Gen, I'd take yours in a heart beat. Minus the automatic slush box of course. Heh.

Safe travels to you and I hope you get something that you're passionate about.

Thanks man. Like I said I've been thinking on it for a while now, thats why I haven't been in here much.

And the Camaro, or whatever it ends up being, is definitely going to be a manual.

I hear you about the vehicle thing. My first car I'm was in love with. Second one never felt anything for. My bike I liked but not perfect. I love my X. My next vehicle will probably be something completely different though.

I sold the xterra on Monday May 18th. Like I said Xterras have been great to me and I have not one bad thing to say about them.

I have since bought a 2006 Mustang GT convertible.

While I was originally looking at 5th gen camaros or coyote 5.0 mustangs, I decided to go with something a little older for a few reasons.

Firstly after driving a 5th gen for a second time, they are just to cramped for me. Headroom is non existent at 6'2" and it has the visibility of a submarine. I really like the coyote 5.0 engine and love the styling of the 13 and 14 mustang, but I do not like the getrag manual transmission that is put behind them at all.

The other reason is that I saved about 10 grand by getting the 06 over something newer, and my insurance would have doubled with a coyote.

I really like my car so far. When I bought my old Mach 1 I was originally looking for a gt convertible, so I've always liked the ragtops. Plus I'm familiar with the mustang and the s197 cars have a huge aftermarket. I have a lot I want to do to this car, but it will all come in time. For now I'm just going to enjoy it.

I will stop by occasionally to see what's going on and to let you guys know what I'm doing with the mustang. Even though I don't own an x anymore I'm still drooling over Moab pics just like the rest of you.

Thanks Casey I'll pop in now and again. I'm gonna want to go cruise up in the mountains eventually, maybe we can meet up and I can get a look at the Volvo.

Are you at least going to start a build thread in the other rides section?

I will Taylor, not much to share yet, but I'll get around to it soon.

Good choice on the 06 GT. that's what I had, minus the vert top.

I do remember you having a mustang. I know most of the major stuff and I'm pretty familiar with the powertrain, having owned another mustang. But this is my first 3 valve 4.6 and first manual trans mustang though, I'd also never ridden in one of the 05+ Mustangs until I test drove this car. Anything in particular that I should keep my eye on from your experience?

Always sad to see an X go. Did you at least recommend us to the new owner?

Good call on the S197. As a Mustang guy at heart, I love em all.
