But Canada can't give you a diesel R51 either.

This is true.

I've spent Christmas contemplating the pros & cons of the V8 vs the V6. I figured the V6 would give me better fuel mileage, and I don't really need a V8 since I don't own a speedboat. Or camper. Or anything that requires the 5.6L.

But I thought about it a little more and remembered the poor, under-powered 3.3L in the Xterra. I don't ever want to go through that again. Maybe a bit more is better than a bit less. And anything better than my current 15MPG will not be taken for granted, and the V8 is supposed to get 18MPG. I suppose we'll see.

Anyway. Merry Christmas!

I understand your dilemma for the need of more space. With 3 children of my own and the youngest only being 19 months old. I have to say that with some creative organization you have quite a bit of room to work with in the xterra.

Hop in a 2nd Gen and take it for a spin. Huge difference IMO. The pathy's are nice though. Basically a frontier with a permanent camper shell. I think the V6 would be plenty for ya.

That's crazy! I can't imagine how you pull that off...

I've driven the 2nd Gens and I like them a lot, but I honestly might need the 3rd row seat for more kiddos in the future. If we have two total, I will certainly entertain the 2nd Gen Xterra or Fronty, especially with the delcious Pro-4X manual trans ;) But more than two is going to warrant more seats. I should just start looking at minivans :tears2:

I heard Ryan will sell you a really nice 2nd Gen ;)

Ha! His poor truck :(

Does the pathfinder have a 3rd row option? I think the only Nissan that does 3rd row is the Armada and them things are huge.

HAHAHA, I wouldn't do that to him lol. I'll do local to someone who doesn't know the nightmares about this thing.

You're too kind ;)

Yeah, they do have the 3rd row. That's part of the allure for me. And I don't want the Armada because, well...I like being able to fit in my garage!

We have a 2011 Pathfinder with 80k miles. Its our family vehicle for vacations, long trips, etc. I have two kids and we can easily make week-long trips with the available cargo space. Knock on wood, we have had zero problems with that vehicle. Just change the oil, tires, brakes etc. Love it and recommend it.

My parents have a 2008 as well and they love it. It'll be up for sale in a few weeks though as they are replacing it with an Armada. Did you guys get the V6 or V8 in yours?

Think towing though... They both AVG about the same mpgs so thats a toss up.. But if you ever plan on adding a trailer for your RTT ;) the v8 would be a huge plus in the MPGs

Everyone, thanks for all the info on the Pathfinders! That will really come in handy when we go to purchase.

Next step is to move, then buy another DD (Subie / Volvo), and then finish the Xterra's build this year. Got about ten very minor things left to do.

Today I replaced the LED in the CHMSL, because apparently it stopped working. I thought that was strange. It was always really sensitive to cold (usually around 0 degrees), and it worked intermittently. Then it just quit. I didn't think that it could be the LED, so I looked at wires, grounds, everything. Swapped a new one in and it's good.

Going to try to get some of those minor things done this weekend while half of you are dealing with the snowpocalypse. So jealous :( It's only 30 degrees up in Michigan, which is bad enough. Supposed to be cold! And snowy! Someone bring me a few feet of snow.

That's really bizare. My 3rd brake light stopped working this week. And both of our LEDs were from the same batch.

Jack, I forgot to ask, how much did your pay for your rear tire carrier and swing from RLC? He's never gotten back to me on pricing. Also, they don't do powder coating, right?

Cannot disclose since it was the first prototype built. Somewhere between $100 and $1000 ;)

Give him a call. He's more easily accessible via phone.

Dude, nice! I've wanted to look into an awning. What brand is yours? My mock up for the brackets were similar to what you have.

ARB 1250. I love it, and it's the perfect size for the 1st Gen, but I might be looking into a bigger one soon. I've had my eye on the fully-enclosed awning rooms and the 1250 isn't big enough to support one. It's been awesome, though.
