Here's a pic of my brother in law trying to drive my truck up his DRIVEWAY. It should give some idea as to the trails I'll be riding.

I know a locker would've gotten me out and I know 4wd would've too. We finally got it out lol, but it took some tugging on his part on the brush guard to get it

I am biased (I have a 4x4) yet I am tempted to lean towards the locker side still. Having an open diff in the rear could drag you down. Would you consider welding the rear, making it an all time locked rear?

Can't. This is gonna have to be my DD for about 2-3 years and I need to be able to open the diff. And like I said, I will be doing both (hopefully before Christmas), just wondered which I should set my eyes on first.

If both are being done in a year, I'd do 4x4 first. Then you can learn what would can and can't get away with, then the locker is just going to increase your trucks overall ability to get to go places.

Yep. I'm with Roady on this one. If you're planning to do a conversion, do it first. A locker would make a big difference on a 2WD truck, but there are still things that 4WD can do for you that a locker can't. I think in the long run it'll make the truck more usable in more situations.

Thanks for the input gentlemen. I know a guy at work who should be able to help me with finding parts. Just need to get things moving soon.

I would just do a SAS if I was you, a lot of guys that have 4WD would rather have a solid axle now anyways, but this just depends on the amount and kind of wheeling you plan to do also.

So today was cold (even for Florida), and my cb and antenna came in last night and I wanted to get that installed today, so I drove to a fire station and had my brother assist me with installing it. The bay doors close and it's kept heated so the fire trucks won't get too cold to start. Took about 4 hours, but I got it in there. Pics tomorrow

Saw a thread on a jeep forum about a guy who installed his auxiliary light toggle switches in an interesting way. Rather than drill holes in his dash, he built a long box and fit 6 switches in it. I've taken to the idea and decided to do the same myself with some slight differences to suit the needs for my switches.

Made out of cardboard and duct tape, this is 6x6 inches and just a template. I'm using 9 basic switches, top 3 are lights, middle three are compressor and front and rear lockers, bottom three are for something later (surprise surprise).

Got lucky, a motorcycle/fourwheeler/lawnmower shop had a fourwheeler chaindrive chain cover lying around that he gave "free to a good home." It's 5x5 inches which actually fits better than my cardboard template does. Drilled holes and test-fit some of my old switches.

Switches look good.

Wired them up, I'll put them in tomorrow. For now, only one will actually do anything. But as I continue modding, I can just wire another switch rather than look for a new spot to install another switch.

Problem is, I'm not great with metal, so I'm probably going to build a mount out of wood. It'll sit between the seats above the cupholder.

Box is built. I mounted the cb mic to the front of it as well (not pictured) looks pretty good if I do say so
