<~ Not a reloader. Haha. My dad goes down there periodically to play with the 1911s. He just doesn't have the guts to get what he wants, even though my mom would support him 110% if he got one.

Dad is old-school Army. He qualified with the M1911 in '81 (11B, Armored Cav) and has had a fascination with them since. He's been looking at 4" Officer models to replace is Taurus Slim as his EDC, which my mom fully supports, but he gets a migraine anytime he thinks about spending that kind of money.

In my opinion, any 1911 would be better than a Taurus. Without a doubt the best 1911 would be a SIG. Not the best price though.

We totally care that you're a 2wd!! We always need moar to fill up the ranks :D

Greets from Dallas, another member of the 2wd crowd.

Sent via wild ferrets on crack

True story...2WD's are welcome, we had fun putting Deeb through a couple spots that I certainly didn't think he was making it through with current config.

Eventually we'll make you wanna convert over to 4wd ;)

Oh, by the way, look into seXTerra, the Southeast XTerra Club. There are quite a few of us in the area, most within an hour or two's drive of each other. drbandkgb and I live about 20 minutes apart, but we don't count. LoL. We have at least two guys from Chattanooga, and a couple from Alabama that might be close to you (but they're not as active).

Actually anyone who served between 1991 and present gets the Desert Storm Tag. I was in in 2001 when it combined to 11X. However I enlisted as 11B Airborne. Basic @ Ft. Benning.

I have been looking at the seXTERRA club. I will probably become a supporting member tomorrow. I have done mild off roading around here, but I really want to push it soon.

I blame my 11B ignorance on not being allowed to be MOSQ'd as such until the last few months. :p

The part I was referring to is in 2001(iirc) when they combined 11B (light infantry) and 11M (mechanized infantry) both into 11B. I don't remember when the 11X at basic training thing happened, but, when I went through in 98, you could still specifically go light/mech/mortar or go X-ray and they'd choose for you at the end of training...

Definitely check out seXTERRA. Here are a couple of ride reports from Prentice Cooper, near Chattanooga TN.

The silver X is MechPatt587, also an army guy with a 2wd.

Keep in mind it was a lot wetter than usual for both of these trips. I've run almost every trail there in 2wd at some point. Of course Charles is 2wd so any time he sees me use 4wd he just hits it a little harder and drives right up. What I've discovered wheeling with him is that I used 4wd way more often than I needed to. Now I pretty much only use it if I stop moving in 2wd or whenever it's very rocky and I want the gear reduction of low range. Come ride with us!

Yeah now days you pick infantry and everyone is trained for 11B & 11M, but about midway through OSUT they pull out 33% and designate them 11C.

That's crap...seriously, if I wanted to ride around on a baby tank I'd sign up for it, if I wanna be a crunchy, I'll sign up for it, and I certainly did ;)

Don't hate on the mortar section....they'll nail you with physics every time. Hahaha.

<~ Child of the 2/278th ACR. I got schooled when I called a mortar track a "tank," and suffered the wrath of a proud daddy who picked Mortars.

Nah, I'm referring to the Bradley and other IFV's. they're baby-tanks.

I'm fine with mortars, they've covered egress for my group a few times.

Ahhhh, those guys. I can't say anything bad about them, since my MOS is the most hated.

Welcome to XN! Quite a few of us have made the switch from TNX over the last few months it seems. As others have said, 2WD or 4WD, we don't care, it's your rig, have fun with it as you seen fit. And from one Vet to another, thanks for your service.

Macland, could I get that PW also.
