That should be a good location for it. Any chance you could get some closer photos and approximate measurements of the space there for reference? I know it’s a pretty good void on that side.View attachment 23111
Started on the Viair install. Might be a hot minute to finish. Need to fabricate some brackets to hold it where I want. All of the past compressor plumbing is done. Just need to mount it and wire everything up. Which includes pulling the entire center stack so I can get wire from my switch in the dash back to the pressure relay.
I tried and tried to get it in there. But with the recess in the trim panel there just wasn't enough depth due to the size of the compressor. I could have mounted it in there. But the trim panel never would have fit right. If the compressor was about 3" shorter, it would have worked. So instead, I ended up with this. That should be a good location for it. Did you figure out a dome light override/solution?Dash surgery day.

Got everything wired up. Going to connect my steering wheel controls while I'm in here.
Based on the schematics, it looks like I need a new BCM. Which I certainly don't want to pay for. I may swing by the junk yard this weekend and see if I can score one there.Did you figure out a dome light override/solution?

This is the way.Wire it to a toggle
I have enough switches. HahaThis is the way.
Looking tightBackup camera installed. If I had my drothers, I'd have drilled it in about a half inch closer to the washer nozzle. The access to tighten the nut was terrible. But doable.

I routed the wire for the camera under the hatch gasket all the way around to the tail light and into the tub.

Also, got the compressor installed and functional.

There's a small leak somewhere. It does a top up every 5 minutes. But I don't care. It's literally for just filling tires.
It was great 8 years ago when I bought it. It's slow and outdated now. I like the platform of a native Android radio but the specs need to be better. I'll probably upgrade to a newer 6-core unit with way more RAM later this year. How are you liking that head unit? Im probably gonna be swapping the one in the '15 for something I can run maps and mirror my phone on, and hate how all the affordable mainstream Android Auto ones are getting rid of physical buttons...
I hear the newer joying units are really good, as well as the Atoto A6 series units. I had an earlier eonon unit in my Colorado. I disliked it enough to leave it in the truck when I got rid of it.The reliance on Android Auto /Apple car play in aftermarket Radios is sad. Especially when there are many localities that make it illegal to touch your phone while driving. I think there is a lot of ammunition for an android native head unit. I just wish one of the reputable car audio brands would develop one.
Sounds like you need super cold beer too..The saga of the serpentine belt.
Belt blew. Ordered new belt and tensioner. Week goes by.
Took everything apart, found that the AC idler pulley sounded like a box of rocks. Ordered that. Another week goes by.
Go out there today, install the new tensioner, new idler pulley, new belt. Done. Right? Of course not.
Fan clutch is seized. ufck. Order another part. Wait another week.
Probably should do the fan idler too.The saga of the serpentine belt.

I thought about it. But it's that whole bracket on the front and I just don't have the cash at the moment.Probably should do the fan idler too.
If I didn't have kids that needed to climb into the back, yes.Ida just welded the back doors shut and told everyone it was a rare version of the xterra... Should increase the resale value of the vehicle as well, right?
The JB Welded part? That’s crazyMother. ufcker.
Its already locked again. Stuck. I'm so ufcking pissed. I guess I'm going to the junk yard and trying to find a replacement cable.
