Should be picking up the truck from the dealership today and then I need to reinstall my winch, paint the grill, finish some auxiliary wiring, retune my CB antenna, and put my interior back together. Ugh. It's gonna be a busy few days.

Ugh. 5 car accident on the highway had my 15 minute commute turn into 40. You'd think if there are 5 cars blocking up all 3 lanes there would be some good carnage. Nope...fat woman on stretcher, other 4 people standing around staring at the damage like they can fix it with their minds.

Side note - all the kids going back to school today with the look of broken tiny people. Parents filled with sheer joy. Made me laugh.

Is there a suggested way to test either of those issues? My coax is one of those PnP PL259 with no dedicated ground. Its mounted on a taillight guard.

A multimeter set to check continuity or simple continuity tester.

Go between the mount and the body of the truck. You should have continuity there. Then go between the ring and tip of the connector. You should not have continuity there.

Yeah. You don't have a ground. You need to run a wire from your mount to a bolt in the hatch somewhere. That tail light guard is coated so even if it did bolt to metal, it's not going to pass the ground.

Yeah. Just grab some ring terminals and run a wire from one of the screws on your mount to an actual body bolt back there somewhere.

I was thinking that screw was for the "ring type" (for lack of a correct name) with prewired ground.
