Thinking of getting an Arlo camera system for the house...someone swiped a package from my front porch.

I like it because all wireless cameras...anyone know of anything better that is all wireless? Don't feel like running POE or power cables in general

Well youll have to get power out there somehow for the camera so might as well go POE. The system i have uses bnc cables but if i had to do it again id go POE in a heart beat.

Exactly. You have to get some kind of wire to the camera. Might as well be ethernet.

That's why i was interested in the Arlo. Runs off batteries and wifiz. Reports are that if you are in normal temps (30deg +) batteries last for a couple months before needing to be recharged

The cons are the whole wireless thing. Guy and I at work were talking about it and the security risks are moderate depending on the implementation. If it's using standard 802.11 then ufck no. If it's using some proprietary security protocol then it could be interesting. Will also need to look at wired systems...perhaps a Jay will do the install for the monies.
