Hey guys I'm new to the Xterra game let alone a nice lifted zombie assault vehicle. But I've just done some calcs and I'm getting 9.8mpg. Now I do have an evap cel going off and I'm wondering if that is really throwing off my mpgs. Will post the official cel code # but any info would really help.

Few questions.

How are you doing your calculation?
If you are using the factory odometer are you taking any tire size difference into account for your mileage number?

I can't see an evap causing at much poor mileage.

yes i just took the 164 miles I did from full to empty, and divided the tank size. and got the 9.8mpg. So then i pulled all the codes so i can start seeing if something is messing up the mpg. cel p0450, p0325, p0455. and i have 31s for rubber and i kind of figured i wouldnt get good millage with those big tires.

that's why it's so low. when you fill back up, take the amount of gas it takes to fill back up and divide it by the 164. because going from full to empty doesn't necessarily use the entire tank's worth of gas.

This.

For me I normally run 150ish miles between fill ups (don't like to let my bail out vehicle get to low) and use a little less than 9 gals (but lets say exactly 9 for math sake).
Take 150 Miles/9 gals that make 16.66 MPG....also this incorporates Nismos favorite number....

take your mpg 2-3 more times and average them to get a really good idea. I've had tanks where I got 8-10 mpg in the winter, but I can usually get a little higher

Time to chime. the diesel got about a 28mpg average before I turned up boost and fuel….. now she is a thirsty 20-21mpg hog…
