I'm getting in the low 14s and needing to have the timing belt replaced ( I have the parts) might I expect an uptick in MPG afterwards? It is an 03 2wd with a manual transmission. I guess I should probably do plugs and such while I am in there.

Not a bad idea.

Derek (inyourteeth) let me borrow his scan gauge. Look like I'm doing a lot better than I thought I was. 16.4mpg's with the tire size correction.

The biggest mistake that most shops make when they do the timing belt is that they don't reset the timing after warmup, clean the MAF or reset the self learn.

If you do all those at the same time, you'll notice a definite change in your mpg's, especially at your lower altitude.

Gas Cubby is showing between 13.3 and 14.5 MPG, factoring in my tire size it gets about 14.8 to 16 MPG. But I haven't taken it on a long freeway trip in months, that is all city driving.

With the math, it's closer to 250ish. Since we moved one exit down, my fuel mileage is actually getting better. I'm holding steady at 17mpg after the tire calc.

I'm unable to get pure gas until the 15th of Sept. with this last tank of ethanol blend, I'm nly 60 miles in and I can see the difference.

If you can find pure gas in your area, use it. It s totally worth it.

My 2wd got 25mpg if I kept it under 55mph and drove really carefully. Closest I can get in the 4wd is 23, driving the same way. The additional weight, lower gearing, and increased drivetrain drag limits my economy. I hate to be a downer, but I really think you missed a receipt or something when you totalled up your gallons for that trip.

I just drove from KY to NC and got 13.5 on the first tank and 14.7 on the second. Driving around town I'm getting 16 now I think the computer is relearning now that I have a CAI
