The meeting place is usually the El Dorado Outpost. It's like gas station where you can buy passes and whatnot.

The GPS coordinates are: 35.451166,-80.071659

This will get you to the group camp site that we will all be at. There is a $5/day park fee to off-road; if you are not off-roading, then you do not have to pay the $5. However, I am going to reach out to the campground ranger and see if we can get the day passes for free; we'll just have to pick up trash along the way. Also, we're asking that folks chip in for the campground as folks have already put out $300 for the group camp sites because we are expecting some 15-20 rigs for this event, so it will be a sizeable turnout. I'm trying to coordinate shirts/stickers/dinner/breakfast for this event as well.

Well work strikes again...looks like I'm out. Since we aren't working Thursday or Friday because of Thanksgiving, they have decided that we need to work the weekend before.......:tears2:

Well...I have to be there, but my X is down right now with a blown front inner bearing...so hopefully nothing else pops up to cripple the X

if I manage to get there I will be running the hard group more than likely.

And rob, you can knock out the lower ball joints in a day. I had never done them before when I did mine and it took me forever on the first one, and just over an hour for the second one. save some effort and rent the ball joint tool from advance/autozone use it to press them out, but just use the nut to seat them. You can press one out in about 10 minutes and seat it in about 10. I got mine from napa and I want to say they were about $80 a piece. I got the socket and wrench from northern tool for the ball joint for less than $20 (on sale+coupons). I would think even with the spindle its maybe a solid weekends worth of work.

After examining my truck a bit more, the spindle wasn't damaged much. The inner race of the inner bearing seemed to be seized on the spindle, so I figured it had smeared metal or scored the spindle up. I spent the time to heat it up, dremel a notch in it smack it with a chisel and 3 pound sledge, and was able to extract to the stuck race to find out that the spindle was actually in very good condition on the bearing surface. There were a few indents on the spindle from where the bearing rollers had exploded...but I cleaned them up lightly with a small grinding drum on a dremel. The indents weren't on the actual bearing surface where the race sits, so I just knocked the indents down enough to smooth out the burrs.

On another note, I inspected my lower ball joints and they are all intact with no rips in the boots, so I will leave them as is. I am replacing/repacking the driver side front bearings tonight, and getting an alignment later this week so my X will be back and ready to rock well before Nov 22!

I'm REALLY hoping to see your beast out there again! Did you ever get the clearance issue on the castle nut resolved? What ended up being the issue?

I have your tie rod adjuster for you if you show up...how is that for incentive?!

I have the same crap on my X, although it looks like it isn't catching anymore, the center link still flexes upwards a lot. I have attributed it to the crappy design of the stock steering system. Replacing my center link eliminated the actual contact, but it is only a matter of time before it comes back...AKA upgrade to a better steering system.

the problem was the centerlink. way too much play in the whole system. The grassroots centerlink is so much tighter than the stock one was and doesnt allow for any play that I have seen so far. upper control arm bushings were really worn and allowing too much movement as well. I dont know if it was the centerlink being so tight or the new idler arm bushings, or just the combo of the two but my steering is super tight now. Almost hard to steer when sitting still. then I installed the lokka and took it for a drive around my buddies field the other night and holy crap. I need to start lifting weights just to drive my X now. I foresee sore shoulders after wheeling.

1 more day! We will have about 3-5 rigs out on Thursday night, another 8-10 rigs out by Friday night, and 4-5 rigs out on Saturday morning, plus a few FJ's that want to try and hang with the Nissan crowd. A couple pretty sweet FJ's, but I've trail lead them up the easy stuff at URE.

I will be coming out Saturday morning and camping Saturday night! We will shoot to be there around 8am. Is there a specific map or directions to get to the group camp site? Site name? Does the group camp site have individual lots, or is it just a big wooded area? Is there fire rings/picnic tables around at all, etc? Just curious since I have never been camping out there. I know you mentioned the bathrooms were there...

I am excited!!!!

As bad as I hate to admit it.. I won't be able to make this time. Everything had to play out perfect and it didn't. It's just not possible.

Y'all have a good and safe time!

Been running the numbers. Can't make this. Truck needs some maintenance, and I've gotta work all day Friday so an early departure just isn't going to happen.

Have fun, be safe.

Basically, go towards Arrowhead campground, and follow the signs for Group Camp. There is Cell coverage, so give me a call if you get lost.

Go in towards the trails, take the 2nd right (which has a sign for Arrowhead campground), then follow the signs for the group camp.
