Man, I feel your pain. I looked for like two months because the 4x4s are hard to come by where i'm at. I had a car for sale and on my sell post I wrote that I would trade for a 2001-2003 4x4 Xterra. A guy called me, said he had a green one, that we was interested in trading, so I drive 45 min to see this guy, he had an 01 with 130k miles, good condition. I loved it, problem was, he was one of those warehouse dealers that flip cars, he looked at my car and said, "ok, ill give you a 1000 trade in value for your car". I wanted to rip his face off. FF>> two weeks, car i was selling was sold, saw a listing on CG, went to see it, great shape, no rust, healthy. I asked him about title status, he said clean. We agreed on a price and we were ready. Spent 30 minutes with this guy, then we we sit down to seal the deal... "hey boss, by the way, its a rebuilt title".... I HAD LITERALLY ASKED HIM ABOUT THE TITLE 20 MINUTES AGO, LIKE IF I WASNT GOING TO FIND OUT. People kill me man.

LOL I hear ya..

Just did receive a text from him he said he is still working on the video and he is at work where he can't get reception on the cell. I figured it was something like that. I would love to find one with 130 k on it like that but I am really just happy to find a decent 5 speed manual transmission and 4x4 with decent miles for a reasonable price right now. Looking forward to seeing the video. Hopefully it is everything he says it is and my wife and I will make a little road trip here after work tomorrow. Who knows maybe a better deal will even pop up in the meantime. Ya just never know...

Hehe yeah man I know. I just thought it was a cool truck to show you guys. I THINK I have one on the line here. waiting for some videos he is uploading right now apparently. If it looks half as good as he says it is I will probably be driving to see it tomorrow after work. Hoping for a good result here. It is a 4x4 5 speed!!

Ain't no word. Guy was supposed to send me video of it, said he was having trouble with his server. texted him yesterday and never heard back. Whatryagonnado? Still looking for the right truck for the right price. We were discussing my driving down tonight or tomorrow to look at it. Maybe I just need to sit tight and wait for one that is really local to me. Getting frustrated really was even considering getting an automatic of which there are many locally for good prices. Really want a 5 speed.... SIGH

yeah I don't want to settle either. He did not honestly seem like a flake. He actually told me that he had another guy coming to look at it when I first contacted him and I offered to come right away. He said he already committed to that fellow first so he made me wait until the other guy looked at it who no showed on him and never even bothered to call him to let him know. Then he texted me back and we were conversing about my driving down there to look at it and he offered to make a couple videos of the truck for me to look at before I drove down there. I was like sounds great! The other night he texted me saying he had the videos ready and was trying to upload them but his internet was slow as molasses. That was the last I heard from him. Maybe he is still working on it I dunno.... he was talking about the weekend might be better for him to show the truck anyways so we were planning to drive down either tonight or something over the weekend. Who knows..... It's not like I am being all that picky or don't have the cash in hand. I just want a 4x4 5 speed with decent mileage. Color is not really a concern nor is not having a sunroof or even some slight damage here or there. Just want a decent platform to build from. I am getting tired of not having a vehicle tho...

yeah as I said there are many automatic 4x4 Xterras around for good prices many are quite a bit cheaper than that one with slightly more miles. I passed on a real nice maroon colored one that had 140k auto for $3800.00 and it appears to have sold. I am REALLY trying to resist the temptation to buy any good auto that comes along here. I am so used to four wheeling with a manual tranny I don't think I would like an auto really. There was two 5 speeds posted recently for cheap prices locally to me both had well in excess of 200k and both were sub $3k prices. Waiting is really a ***** but I am hoping something pops up local to me this weekend or early next week.

Almost all of them as far as I know.

The 5 speed is rare enough. In my experience, finding people like you and I who actually want to wheel them is rarer still.

No. Be picky. Because I can tell you as a manual transmission junkie. If you don't have the 3rd pedal, you're going to regret it.

I swear I ALMOST packed the kids in the car today and went to look at a local automatic one... I'm getting antsy over here LOL.. Ya never know I might go and do something crazy like buy another freakin' suzuki samurai here soon if I cannot get one ;) I was really wondering how bad it would be to get a 5 speed 2wd and convert it. I mean I could be driving and enjoying it with a manual tranny while gathering parts for the SAS swap and then just swap in a junkyard 5speed and t case from somewhere.... I tried to find pictures here of what the differences are in the trannies and t-cases between the 2wd and 4wd. The only problem with this is that Most of the manual tranny ones I see are the 4 cylinders motors ones. Not that that is a bad thing I dunno....

It is a bad thing. The manual on the 4cyl job is completely different. That being said, the transmission is also different on the v6 between 2wd and 4wd. Not the main gear train but the overdrive module where the shifter attaches. On the 2wd it just has a tailcone and slip yoke. On the 4wd it has an output shaft and bolt pattern to go to the TX10 transfer case.
