i feel stupid for asking this, but what is BOTM and POTM ? lol

i know the "of the month" part at least :p

Build and Pic, not stupid questions.

On a side note, I showed my wife a pic of your X and she asked "what is that thing on the right side?"

I said, it's a snorkel for going through deep water and for air flow. She didn't really get it but she liked your Xterra.

Thanks!

Aw well I'm glad she likes it :)

It's better than the guy at my Starbucks who thinks it either has a speakerphone or blows bubbles at people ^_^

I was always afraid to submit this photo to any of the monthly contests because it could violate some land use rules I guess. (seeing how high the splash is. But note this was taken at Badlands offroad park).

Looks like a park to me...

As long as the pix are not blatant illegal wheeling.. And im not sure about the splashing thing.. Ill have to re-read out rules lol
I have no issue with splashing

Iowa wheeling is alot like like the cliffs from what ive heard.

Steep hills, offcamber terrain, not alot of rocks, but miobi is abandoned coal mine so its not exactly natural terrain. Lots of fun though i think in October were trying to a get a small group of Xs to go. Rob from club x and Luke from here & I are going you might as well lol.

My build thread is pretty boring lately. I'll be up in Wisconsin this weekend so maybe I can finally find some dirt to play in :)

Thanks guys! I am proud how the X looks and handles with the new setup. Hopefully I can still make it out to the upcoming GLX run for more Badlands fun :D

If you want to see more pics of the Jeeps at the event, feel free to check them out in this album: NAXJA WinterFest 2013

Whoa I just realised you re-geared to 4.10s, nice! Now I'm uber jealous. How did you decide to go with the Explorer and Crown Vic parts vs other well-known parts for the X? Either way, looks like a great set up and seems to function very well. Kudos!

The 8.8 is a common jeep swap and judging by her jeep friends Id bet they had something to do with it. The 8.8 is a pretty strong rear that can be found with factory disc brakes.

Yeah a Jeep guy may of had something to do with it.

Crown Vic because
a) Close to Titan width stock
b) 3.25" tubes
c) 31 spline
d) Parts are dirt cheap and a dime a dozen
e) Huge aftermarket support
f) Larger ring and pinion than M220

I'm a little proud of this axle so bear with me. The Ford small bearing ends were cut off and replaced with Ford big bearing Torino style ends and the axle was narrowed to titan width. With the addition of the big bearing ends we are able to run semi float shafts (no c-clips). Dutchman alloy 31 spline shafts were shortened to correct Titan width and drilled with the 6x4.5" bolt pattern. Now getting to the brakes this is where the huge aftermarket support comes in. Currie Enterprises sells explorer disc blanks (no holes drilled). I was able to chuck them up in the mill and drill the 6x4.5 bolt pattern. The brackets calipers etc. are all Explorer.

Sounds expensive but there is less that $700 in that rear end, disc to disc, geared, ready to roll. This summer she will be adding an elocker.

Here's a video of her beating on it
